Option A is correct here.

Sudan, at one time the largest state is Africa, was divided into two countries – North Sudan and South Sudan, in July 2011. The people of south had been fighting for an independent state comprising of Christians and Animists, as they felt oppressed under the rule of the predominantly Arab Muslim, north.

Prior to the division, Sudan witnessed two civil wars which cost close to two million lives. Sudan is an oil rich country. Currently the issue of sharing revenue from oil and settlement of border line between the two countries is creating tension.
