Energy trapping and energy conversion process:

The process of energy trapping and energy conversion process in plants is called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which sunlight is trapped by the green pigment in plants called chlorophyll and along with atmospheric “carbon dioxide” and “water” from the soil it produces its ‘own food’ for “nutrition and energy”.  

The bi-products of photosynthesis are “glucose (sugar)” and “oxygen”. In this metabolic process in green plants, light energy from the sun is converted to “chemical energy” in the form of the plant’s food and its bi-products.
