Answer:

Horizontal line is x axis

Vertical line is y axis

Step-by-step explanation:

There are four Cartesian plane with signs (-,-) , ( -,+) , (+,+) and (+,-) .

Given:- What is the name of horizontal line and vertical line drawn to determine the position of any point in Cartesian plane? Write down part of each and formed by these two lines. Wrote the name where these two lines intersect.

Solution :-

The horizontal line is called x - axis and the vertical line is called y - axis . They divide the plane into four parts .

  • First quadrant ( both positive )
  • Second quadrant ( x -ve , y +ve )
  • Third quadrant ( both -ve )
  • Fourth quadrant ( x +ve , y -ve )

The numbering of quadrants is done in anti-clockwise direction . The point of intersection of x axis & y axis is called origin .
