Answer:

Varsha

A few points as follows...

Experts' caution on `Varsha' scheme

The scheme for harvesting rainwater, `Varsha', launched with much fanfare by the Government, is unlikely to deliver the desired results if the social engineering aspects of the scheme along with a sustained awareness campaign on the benefits of the Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) are not taken up alongside, according to experts.

The focus being given to only tank-based collection of rainwater by the Government under `Varsha' without considering the other techniques of the RWH is being criticised by water conservationists. According to reports, the scheme currently aims at collecting rainwater in food grade plastic sheets, its diversion to filter units and the storing of filtered water in ground level tanks of 25,000-litre capacity. It will be distributed during the summer season. As per the scheme, at least five families in an area will be the beneficiaries of the scheme.
