Salting is the name of soil pollution caused by salt.

  • The salt in the soil prevents the water to penetrate through the soil and reach the roots of the plants, therefore this salt needs to be removed, but when there is low rainfall along with poor irrigation, then this salt remains in the soil and leads to infertility. This whole process causes soil pollution.
  • Due to osmosis, since the soil has high amount of salt, the water from the plants will diffuse into the soil, due to which the plants would become weak and ultimately die.
