"The name of special shape which is given to object moving through fluids to reduce drag is streamline.

When an object is moving through fluid, there are two types of flow such as "laminar flow" and "turbulent flow". The turbulent flow causes more drag than laminar flow due to "eddy formation". The streamline is in such a shape that reduces the eddy formation. The "shape" of the streamline changes according to the plane in which it is used.

When the speed of the plane increases, it leads to formation "shock wave" which causes more damage to the plane. So, the airfoil in the planes in supersonic speed needs to be in a streamline shape that avoids shock."
