Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya also known as Sir MV was an Indian engineer and the 19th Diwan of Mysore, who served from 1912 to 1918. September 15th is celebrated as Engineer's Day in India in his memory. He was chief engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mandya district.

Er.Visvesvaraya gave his valuable technical inputs for the location of Mokama Bridge over Ganga in Bihar.
