What is the name of the products obtained on burning ethanol in air, is it carboxylic acid plus water OR carbon dioxide plus water ???

Well...it is a great question friend....
See..
C2H5OH - - >CO2+H20
When ethanol burns in air carbon dioxide and water is formed.
Here.. this is combustion reaction...
and in this case..
C2H5OH + 2[0]-->CH3COOH
Above reaction is oxidation with KMnO4 as catalyst and product formed is ethanoic acid.

The above two reactions are different although both have added oxygen but in second case the reaction takes place in present of kMno4 as catalyst...
So while giving answers we should notice kMno4.....
