The nature of bond between p and q is explained below:

- When a bond is formed by complete transference of electrons from one atom to another so as to complete their outermost orbits by acquiring 8 electrons or octet and hence acquire stable nearest noble gas configuration ,the bond formed is called ionic bond or electrovalent bond.

- Now ,In ionic bond metal donates electron and non- metal gains the electron, Thus metal becomes cation by forming positive charge whereas non- metal becomes anion by forming negative charge .

- So, here p will give the electrons and q will gain the electrons and p will get positive charge and q will get a negative charge .

- Thus, compound is pq and the total charge is zero.
