The Bowman's capsule is the first step of filtration in the kidneys. It separates the blood into a cleaned blood product and a filtrate that is moved through the nephron ( another structure in the kidneys). The filtrate is composed of water, ions (sodium, potassium, chloride), glucose and small proteins. As the filtrate moves along the nephron additional impurities are removed.

⏭️⏭️The blood is filtered across the capillary walls of this tuft through the glomerular filtration barrier, which yields its filtrate of water and soluble substances to a cup-like sac known as Bowman's capsule. The filtrate then enters the renal tubule, of the nephron.
