a) If the magnification has a plus sign then the image is virtual and erect.

Here the magnification is greater than 1 therefore the image will be formed is larger than the object.

b) If the magnification has a minus sign then the image is real and inverted. And as you can see the magnification is less than 1 means it is in minus therefore the image will be formed is smaller than the object.

all the images formed by convex mirror are virtual, erect and smaller than the object and the images formed by concave mirror are real and inverted except when object is kept after focal length where it forms a virtual and erect image.
