in the presence of water or oxygen some element reacts rapidly or dangerously to give the Hydroxide in this reasons alkali and alkaline metals does not found in the nature of the metallic ... this is the nature of the metallic oxide that it reacts rapidly and fast in the presence of Oxygen and water and they are basic in nature as they furnish hydroxide ion very easily ...................
