What is the nature of oxides formed by metals? How will you detect it? Explain with the help of an example.

generally , metals reacts with water and yeah to produce a metal oxide and hydrogen gas metal oxides that are soluble in water and dissolve in it further to form metal hydroxides .

Those metal who are placed in the lower reactive series they are less reactive towards water and air .

aluminium oxide and zinc oxide show both acidic and basic behaviour and react with both acid and base to produce salt and water are called amphoteric oxides.
