To find the the nature of roots we find the Determinant of the quadratic equation.

D =  {b}^{2}  - 4ac

  • If D = 0, roots are real and equal.
  • If D > 0, roots are real and unequal.
  • If D < 0, roots are imaginary.

Given quadratic equation:

 {x}^{2}  - 2x + 4 = 0

a=1, b=-2, c=4

D = (-2×-2)-4×1×4 = 4-16 = -12

Hence, roots of the given equation are imaginary.

Answer:

hii mate...

Step-by-step explanation:

By using discriminate formula,

D = b square - 4 ac

where , a= 1 , b= -2 and c= 4

putting the value of a, b ,and c in given formula

D = (-2) ^2 - 4×1×4

= 4 - 16

D = -12
