Following are the nature of vascular bundles present in monocot stem.

  • Monocot stems have most of their vascular bundles near the outside edge of the stem .
  • they are scattered in the ground tissue.
  • They are of different size and the smaller being restricted to peripheral sides.
  • Each vascular bundle is encircled by bundle sheath made up of sclerenchyma .
  • There is no bundle gap .
  • The protoxylem and metaxylem are arranged in the form of capital 'Y'.
  • Each vascular bundle is conjoint,collateral,and closed .
