It is a white powder that is insoluble in water. ZnO is present in the earth's crust as the mineral zincite. That being said most ZnO used commercially is synthetic. Zinc oxide is commonly found in medical ointments where it used to treat skin irritiations.

Zinc oxide is basically an inorganic compound.

EXPLANATION:

It is a white coloured powder. It occurs in the earth’s crust in natural form. For commercial purposes, zinc oxide is manufactured and is synthetic in nature.

Zinc oxide is water insoluble. It is used for treating skin problems because of its anti-bacterial and deodorizing properties.

Zinc oxide reacts with acids as well as bases. It also finds application in several industries especially rubber vulcanization. It is also used in paint pigments and paint coatings.
