Units of measurement are the terms that we use to describe the size of something. You probably know that units include things like seconds, kilograms, meters, and so forth.

Without standard units of measurement, scientists would have a huge problem understanding what other scientists were saying. After all, if I were to refer to a meter as "the length of my leg" and another scientists were to refer to it as "the length of a Saint Bernard dog", we'd have a lot of trouble when it came to do actual science. To avoid this problem, the SI system of units gives us a convenient and, more importantly, standard set of units that we can agree on

there is a need of standard units for most importantly scientific works as there a many different units used by people even in an area and because of this if the units of this area r used in publising a book then only the people of the area who know these units would only be able t oh know it's meaning that others would not even be able to ..and it also plays an important role for exchanges b/w different materials if they have different units so how would both of them be able to know what mass length etc they exchanging as one may know his unit and other may know his unit but they cannot have one common unit through which both of them know what they r exchanging so to make both of them have this knowledge there should be a unit to be used globally to make all these problems vanish...
