Chemical communication is very important in multicellular organisms. Chemical communication takes place with the help of chemical messengers called hormones. These hormones are synthesised in one part of the body and reach to target site which is located far away. Thus hormones reach each and every part of the body and elicits response from the target organ. Hormones coordinate number of functions of body such as metabolism, respiration, digestion, perception of senses, growth and development, sleep, stress, state of the mind, excretion, lactation, locomotion, and reproduction.
