Answer:

I'm going to go out on a limb here and answer this as if you are asking what is the importance of living things in my immediate environment. The importance of plants and animals to our planet as a whole is obvious - without those living things humans could not survive.

It is extremely important to me to share my world with plants and animals. I cannot feel at home in any environment (such as a desert) where such life is rare or non- existent. A barren landscape is disturbing to me.

I'm a grumpy old man, and have lived my life among living things. From forests filled with diverse plant and animal species, to farming and the plants and animals one finds on a farm, to the diversity of aquatic life, to gardening and animal companions in my home, living things have always been a big part of my life and a big part of what has made my life worth living.

Answer:

For survive, animals need air, water, food, and shelter (protection from predators and the environment); plants need air, water, nutrients, and light. Every organism has its own way of making sure its basic needs are met.
