what is the need of pie in maths and why it is used only to solve problem based on circle??

pie=ratio of circles circumference to its diameter

While deriving the equation for area of sector of a circle we take angle of circle as [/tex] \pi [/tex] radians with the angle of sector as 1 radian ,that is why pi have come.
