see... the forces 2F and F which are antiparallel to each other will cut each other and the resultan will be F and in the direction of 2f bcoz that was the greater force.

now F which is upwards and our resultsnt force (F) are perpendicular to each other so theta is 90 degress

so acc their resultsnt will be = root( F(square) + F (square) + 2F ×F ×cos 90)

and cos90=0

so we are left with

root(F(sq) +F(sq))

= root(2)F
