Newton's first law is the (law of inertia)......

1) Inertia of motion - e.g when u r traveling through a bus a the driver hits the brake n u r likely to move forward....

2) inertia of rest - when your body is at rest position and when the driver starts doing with the acceleration u will move backwards if ur back is not in contact with the seat

3) inertia of direction - when u don't tie up ur luggage over ur car properly then while turning it may fall if its weight is light

A body remains in the state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless and until an external force acts on it.

Putting Newton's first law in simple words, a body will not start moving until and unless an external force acts on it. Once it is set in motion, it won't stop or change it's velocity until and unless some force acts upon it once more.
