Normative Conception of Political Theory :-
The word 'Normative' means relating to an ideal standard or model, or being based on what is considered to be normal or correct way to do something.
normative statements make claims about how things should or ought to be, how to value them, which things are good or bad or which actions are right or wrong.
This conception of political theory can easily be distinguished from the empirical one. Empirical conception addresses positive questions concerning politics and society. It seeks to describe actual political phenomena such as elections or electoral system, voters' behaviour, information about political opinion, legislative and government behaviour, the interaction between the legislative, the executive and the judicial branches of the state and the stability and instability of different forms of government. Normative conception, by contrast, addresses conceptual and evaluative questions such as, what a democracy is ? How we ought to organize our political system and how to evaluate the desirability of policies.
