Let, the required number be x.

According to the question,

x - (-6) = -12

=> x + 6 = -12

=> x = -12-6

=> x = -18

So, the required number is -18.

Solution :

Let,

the number is x

if we subtracted from it -6 : x - 6

difference will be -12 : x - 6 = -12

So, the equation is

x - 6 = -12

x = -12 + 6

x = -6

So, the number is (-6).

Verification :

(-6) - 6 = -12
