Answer:4000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given A cement company earns a profit of Rs 8 per bag of white cement sold and a loss of Rs 5 per bag of grey cement sold. The company sells 3000 bags of white cement and bags of grey cement in a month. What is its profit or loss? What is the number of white cement bags it must sell to have neither profit nor loss, if the number of grey bags sold is 6,400 bags

Now the number of bags of white cement the company sold is 3000 and the profit is Rs 8

So it will be 3000 x 8 = 24,000

Also the number of grey cement bags the company sold is 5000 and the loss is Rs 5

So it will be 5000 x – 5 = - 25,000

So we get 24,000 – 25,000 = - 1,000

So the company has – 1,000 Rs loss.

We need to find the number of white cement bags it must sell in order to have neither profit nor loss.

So number of grey bags sold is 6,400

Let the number of bags sold be y

So 6400 x – 5 + y x 8 = 0 (since neither profit nor loss)

   So 8 y = 32000

    Or y = 32,000 / 8

   Or y = 4000

So number of white cement bags to sell will be 4000
