what is the office timings for a technical support engineer at vmware?

Answer:
The looks - Top Hi-Tech software development company environment. Access to lot of internal and external resources to supplement ones duty.
The feel - "CALL CENTER". I think you can compare your daily job to a local Airtel call center. Too much work and no time to sit back and assess what was done, why was it done, how can it be done better. per say one is a type writer who writes email to close cases. No one cares. 90% of the staff on the floor are new or perhaps dont communicate really well. Maybe they dont want to. Expect little to no help. Expect growth in a term of 5 years? If you do get re-elected you need to wait out till everyone moves over to another sinking boat.
Contractors/Claused employment(perm.) - The week an employee joins, they are given a standard VCP training. Somehow the whole team thinks they did a favour. The trainings are pathetic, inhouse goons delivering bookish content. Not a penny useful. Never ask for trainings, try and skip all of them. If you dont there is a status quo developing. You work more we give you more trainings. Not any other way like...you need a training and we are giving you one.
Working hours/day - 8
Weekend work - stressful. reject during offer discussion. If you cannot, you can kiss personal life good bye forever.
Shifts - Crazy, too much work pressure cos of ppl vanishing week after week. The only tenured employee who stays back has some sort of a fake degree or fake experience. Soneone with no self respect. Can do anything for my manager type.
Survival theory - "Yes Boss". If you cannot really understand what your managers wants to say, you need to concur "Yes Boss". If you dont he starts his/her target practise.
Work from home? - Heck. Its a call center. Whats a work from home for a call center agent? Duh! Only Managers and Directors can work from home.
Co-workers - Hell yea. They can pick up and random guy/gal with a decent degree who knows nothing about technology. Reason "he has customer service skills". There goes teams work!
Feedback? Works. Even the CEO bows down to the feedback given on the right forum. Nonetheless, someone will walk to you one day to show the door. Not political just cultural trait. Easy right!
Underneath the surface - Micromanaged. Day after day agents will be micromanaged. The only skill a call center dude is expected to have is pick up the phone and call. All the other skills managers have. The word "ecalcate" has nothing technical to do with it. Ones its done, the manager will go to any extent to get a case resolved on the engineer who is saying " I really dont know how this works". Asking for help will sometimes come back to you as - "he asks a lot of help". I have personally kept quiet and did all my work. Exepcting help was like taking advtange of a system, which will chew you out when its time.
Hierarchy - Screwed up.
A manager does a team leads job. There is no part of a manager jobs that involves technology or understanding in that sphere. Its all about service delivery, who cares if the customer's hardware is not capable. We still delivery top class support. Even if that means bending over backwards and then doing it yourselves.
The directors - jobless, figure heads.
Sr. Directors and counter parts in other countries - Be very careful what you say or dont say(to this set of goons), everything you say or dont say will be used against you in a court of law(their law - the tribal law).
Ratings - As usual loopy. I hope they do away with it and soon and give fair words of advice.
Stocks - They are down the drain now, the only thing that was making money has been spun out.
Transport - I wish I walked to save some self-respect. Poorly managed, probably the cheapest vendor in the market. Broken cars, badly stinking interiors, profusely sweating driver. They look like thugs and cheats. I could have contracted AIDS by just travelling in the cars.
Cafeteria's & Breakout - Decent place in the new building in Bangalore. Snacks and beverages avialable freely all day. Facility is new and RE team has still to scale up. Lot of penny pinching going on for no reason. No one needs it, perahps some director is showing money saved! for what? using cheaper fake juices? Oh wait. There are no dishwashers in the building. You will see facility vendors washing everything with bare hands. God forbid one be infected with a communicable disease. And then you can feel the reamins of what someone previously eat. All and all no quality control. Parking was a scary place up and till some point. Lack of CCTV's and guards.
