Onset of sexual maturity is known as Puberty.

The puberty is also known as Adolescence. The changes in body can be seen during this time period. Hormonal changes, physical and mental changes can be seen taking place in an adolescence. In females, the growth in the size of the breast and having pubic hair and having hair in the arm pits is the sign of a sexually mature female. In males, the growth of the penis and growth of a muscular body with hair on the chest, legs, arms, armpits and the face is the sign of a sexually mature male. One can determine if a person is sexually mature by the activation of gonads(male and female gamete production starts).

The Adolescent can be seen different from a child and an adult, it is because they are in the middle of both the phases. The adolescent will have different thoughts and will get their minds on the things that they think is 'COOL'. The problem is that they will probably get mood swings and will be attracted towards the opposite sex of theirs and might be very much aggressive towards anyone who will be opposing them and they will most probably be showing this aggression at their home on parents, siblings and at people who have a daily basis of contact with the person.

The adolescence phase is a very crucial stage of the life, one must be carefully handled in order to have the adolescents go through a right development phase.
