The school master, narrates a story about Bhushan who was a wealthy businessman and his beautiful wife called Mani. Bhushan loved his wife for her beauty and she loved him, for his wealth. They lived without any issues arising between them.
However, the business occurred losses and Mani had a doubt that Bhushan would mortgage her jewellery to raise credits. So, she left for her father's house, with all the jewellery that she had possessed.
The narrator says, true love is usually willing to sacrifice even the most valuable possession to put a smile on the face of the beloved. But Mani, did not lend a helping hand, in the midst of her husband's difficulty and chose to leave him.
Bhushan thought of Mani, as 'a jewel' for him - his most prized possession. But he had now lost this jewel forever.
