loudness depends on:
1.distance between the source and the listener . it obeys inverse square law, i.e., with increase in distance the sound becomes feeble.so, to reduce the loudness of sound ,the distance between the source and the listener should be increased .
2. density of the medium: loudness is directly proportional to the density of the medium.if the density of the medium be reduced, the loudness of sound reduces.
3.amplitude of vibration:amplitude of vibration of a given sound of given frequency is directly proportional to loudness of sound ,if the amplitude be reduced the loudness will decrease.
4.size of the source:loudness of sound is directly proportional to the surface area of the source of the sound .if the surface area of the source of the sound is made small, the loudness of sound will decrease.
