What is the other end point of the diameter of a circle, who’s centre is (1, 2) and one end point of the diameter is (3, 4)?

Let the centre be P(2,1) and one endpoint of the diameter A(7,1) and it's other endpoint B(x,y).AB is the diameter passing through the centre P of the circle.

The midpoint formula is,

= {(x1+x2)/2 ,(y1+y2)/2}

Where x1=7,y1=1 and x2=x,y2=y

Given that the midpoint = (2,1)

Therefore,

{ (7+x)/2,(1+y)/2} = (2,1)

That is,

(7+x)/2 = 2

7+x=4

x=4–7

x=-3

and,

(1+y)/2 = 1

1+y=2

y=2–1

y=1

Hence, the other point of the diameter B(x,y) is B(-3,1).
