Loosely arranged bones are called as trabecular bone.

Bones provide support and protection to the body and its organs. Bones are two types: compact and spongy.

Compact bones are found in the shaft/diaphysis of a long bone and the surface of the flat bones while spongy bones are present in the end/epiphysis of a long bone. Compact bones are made up of osteons while spongy bones are made up of trabeculae.

Cortical bone and cancellous bone tissue are two types of bone tissue. Cortical bones are compact bone while cancellous bones are trabecular and spongy bones.

Based on mineralization bones are either woven bone (Immature) or lamellar bone (Mature). Lamellar bones are composed of compact or cortical bones in the skeleton. Loosely arranged lamellar bones are called trabecular bone. These bones are called by its name because of their pattern visible under x-ray.
