So to calculate the oxidation state we have to equate the individual charges sum to the toral charge on rhe ion.

Let the oxidation of As be xx.

And we know the oxidation of Oxyegen ion = -2

x+4(−2)=−3x+4(−2)=−3

x−8=−3x−8=−3

x=5x=5

Therefore, Arsenic have 5 oxidation number.

+5 oxidation state.
