The oxidation state of Cr3+  is +3

Explanation:

  • The oxidation state of any stable or free element is always equal to zero because it has no tendency to combine with any other element.
  • But in the case of monoatomic elements e.g. elements containing only one atom, the oxidation state is equal to the number of charges mentioned above it.
  • Such as Cr3+ has a charge of +3. So, its oxidation state is the same e.g. +3
