let the oxidation number of O3 be x
then, (+1) + 2(+2) + 3x = 0
=> 1 + 4 + 3x = 0
=> 3x = -5
=> x = -5/3
Therefore, the oxidation number of O is -5/3 which is actually the average oxidation number since oxidation number cannot be in fractions it has to be in whole numbers only. Hence, -5/3 is just the average oxidation number of O
Hope it helps...

Answer:the oxidation number of o3 in 2NaS2O3 is +1.
Explanation:
for Nas2o3, how much compound we are taking has no impact on oxidation number of an element .so mentioning 2 in NaS2O3 is not necessary.
the answer is as follows,
NA+2(S)+3(O)=0
1+2(-2)+3(x)=0
1-4+3x=0
-3+3x=0
3x=3
x= +1
here mentioning the sign whether it is positive or negative is important.
