what is the oxidation reaction? and with example.


JayeshPakhrani: Oxidation is the reaction in which a substance gains an oxygen atom or lose a hydrogen atom.It can also be defines asose of elctrons .For e.g. 1.C + O2 = CO2 2. CO+H2O = CO2 + H2 .In e.g. 1 there is a addition of O and 2nd there is removal of H

Oxidation reaction are those in which addition of oxygen to a substance or removal of hydrogen from a substance occurs.

Example ..
CuO + H2 --- H2O + Cu
here, CuO is reduced ( oxygen is removed)
and hydrogen is oxidised ( Oxygen is added to it )
