H is 1 so 2(1)=2

O is -2 so 4(-2)=-8

S = X

X+2-8=0

x-6=0

x=6

{\bold {\huge {\green {\boxed {\red {\mathcal {ANSWER }}}}}}}

H2SO4

( + 1) \times 2 + x + ( - 2) \times 4 = 0

2 + x - 8 = 0

x - 6 = 0 \\ x = 6

therefore the oxidation state of S is

{\bold{\pink {\boxed{\green{+6}}}}}
