  1. XYLEM PARENCHYMA :
  • Thin cellulosic cell wall containing parenchymatous cells.
  • Prominent nucleus and dense cytoplasm is present therefore, they are Living component.
  • Function : Storage of metabolites. Radial conduction of water, that's why they are known as Ray Parenchyma.

2. PHLOEM PARENCHYMA :

  • This are living parenchymatous cells having nucleus throughout their life.
  • They are connected to each other through plasmodesmatal junctions and it helps in the storage of food as well as secondary metabolites.
  • Phloem parenchyma is absent in monocots and most of the herbaceous plants.
