What is the percentage error in the volume of a uniform cylinder if the percentage error in the measurement of radius and length are 1% and 2% respectively.

Percentage error in radius = (∆r/r)×100

= 1%

Percentage error in length = (∆h/h)×100

= 2%

Volume of cylinder = V = πr²h

Therefore,

∆V/V = 2∆r/r + ∆h/h

{(∆V/V) × 100} = {2(∆r/r) × 100} + {(∆h/h) ×100} = 2 × 1% + 2% = 4%
