TOPIC :- MOLE CONCEPT

CONCEPT :- There are two types of Cu ions, they exist as Cu+ and Cu²+ . Cu1.8O is a mixture of both the ion.Also, In any compound AxBy , the ions are  {A}^{y +  } and \:  {B}^{ x  - }

SOLUTION

If the ions would have been Cu+ , the compound would have been Cu2O . And, if it has been CU²+ , the compound would be CuO.

Now, let there is x of Cu+ in the compound Cu1.8O.

Then,

2 × x + 1 × (100-x) = 1.8

=> 1/100 ( 2x + 100 - x ) = 1.8

=> x + 100 = 180

=> x = 80

Hence, the compound Cu1.8O, contains 80 of Cu+.
