Given : cos ( 4x+5 )

To Find : period

Solution:

Period of a function is the interval at which  function returning to the same value.

if p is the period of a function f(x)

=> f(x + p) = f(x)

Period of  cosx  is  2π

Period of cos ( ax+b)    =   2π/x

hence period of  cos ( 4x+5 )  = 2π/4

period of cos cos ( 4x+5 ) is π/2

What is the period of cos ( 4x+5 )

Answers

DETERMINE

The period of

CONCEPT TO BE IMPLEMENTED

1. A function f (x) is said to be a periodic function of period T if

f( x + T) = f(x)

2. If f(x) is a periodic function of period T then period of f(ax+b) is

 \frac{t}{ |a| }

EVALUATION

Here the given function is

cos \: (4x \:  + 5)

Now \:  the \:  period \:  of \:  cos \:  x \:  is  \:

2\pi

Therefore,  \ \: \:  \\ The  \:  \: period  \: of  \: cos  \: (4x +5)  \: is

 =  \frac{period \: of \: cos \: x}{coffecient \: of \: x}

 =  \frac{2\pi}{4}

 =  \frac{\pi}{2}
