what is the perpendicular distance of the point p(5,-7) from the x axis?

The co ordinates of the points are : ( 5,-7)

The point is located in such way :

if we start moving from origin we have to move 5 unit on right side of the x axis then moving 7 units down paraller to y axis . the point where we end is the point (5,-7)

here we moved right on x axis because 5 is positive , had it been -5 we would have moved to left side of the origin .same way we moved down on y axis because it was -7 unit , had it been +7 we would have moved to upside

This clearly indicates that perpendicular distance of the point from x axis should be the y cordinate which is 7 here .

Answer = 7
