As per the plan hatched by conspirators, Metillus Cimber approached Caesar and requested him to repeal the banishment given to his brother and revoke the banishment and grant him freedom. Caesar being arrogant and stubborn said that a lawful decree couldnt be evoked and no flattery could prevail upon him to change his decision. He argued he was as steadfast as a northern star and could not moved in any way.
