What is the pH of 0.001 M HNO3 solution ? Please give explanation.​

Solution:

To determine the pH of the nitric acid solution we have to follow the below steps as follows-

Nitric acid dissociates as-

HNO_3\rightarrow H^++NO_3^-.

Thus the concentration of hydrogen ions is also 0.001M.

The pH of the nitric acid solution is given as-

pH=-log [H^+].

[H^+]=0.001

pH=-log(0.001)\\pH=3

The pH of the nitric acid solution is 3.
