Human blood pH varies between 7.35-7.45 Mostly it is 7.4

pH can be defined as negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration.

pH=-log [H+]

Or pH is the measure of acidity of a compound. More the pH ,less acidic the substance is.

pH < 7 :acidic

pH > 7 :basic

pH = 7 :neutral

pH concept was stated by S.L.P Sorensen in 1909. Here “p” stands for potenz & “H” denotes hydrogen ion concentration

If pH blood decreases, it leads to acidosis while increase in pH causes alkalosis.

pH abnormality leads to various disorders & impairment of body physiology.

Lots of factors like indigestion, vomiting, diarrhoea, lungs, endocrine, kidney function, urinary tract infections affects blood pH.
