The guiding values of the Indian Constitution may be summarized as comprising equality, freedom, secularism, socialism and internationalism.

The philosophy of the constitution is reflected in the preamble which reads as follows:-

We, the people of india, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a sovereign, socialists, secular democratic Republic and to secure to all it's citizens Justice, social, economic and political, liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship

Equality of status and of opportunities and to promote among them all.
