What is the plot of the novel the canterville ghost

Its of a man who murdered his wife long ago because she was a bad housekeeper. He was very ashamed later and couldn't die, so he became a ghost. He vowed to keep humans away from the manor his wife was killed. The Otis family moves in and he tries his best to scare them away but they are american and used to all this. In the end of the book, Virginia Otis helps him forget his past and absolutes him to die properly. Then the ghost dies and the family lives happily ever after. Pretty simple plot really, but the book is funny because the Otis family really humiliates the ghost when he tries to scare them.
