The poetic device is personification. The mirror is given the human quality of eating and swallowing. After swallowing the images (shown a while ago) disappear inside the mirror. It's like food swallowed by people.

The poetic device used in many phrases like 'I swallow' is personification. personification is a poetic device used by poets to represent object as humans .Here ,the mirror represents a human being indulging in the human activity of swallowing something .The mirror is an object and can't swallow.
