what is the point in having so much debate and discussion in the parliament when we know that the view of ruling party is going to prevail?

India is a parliamentary democracy where the government is accountable to the Legislature .

It is a wrong notion that the debate and discussion in the parliament has no real value because Parliament gives an opportunity for the opposition to raise issues of national importance for which the government hasn't done anything about .

Once the matter is presented in the parliament and the Government feels it can get away with it without doing anything will help the opposition to gain advantage by showing the complacency of the Government before the people.

If the opposition is able to convince the people about the inefficiency of the government ,then there is little hope for the ruling party to win the next election.

This fear of losing the next election forces a government to address the issues raised by the opposition in the parliament .
