Poles of a magnet are nothing , But just the names given to the two ends of a magnet i.e. North pole & south pole , Just like you are familiar with charges , That same charges repell & opposite attaract .
Same Has been observed with magnets , Same poles repell & opposite attract , So what should be names given to poles ? So they named as one north pole & other south pole .

Poles of magnet
- The magnetic poles are the parts of the magnetic field where the magnet's power is maximum.
- A freely moving magnet will rotate in a north-south direction.
- The southern pole is the opposite end. When 2 different magnets are put closer, their poles which are opposite attract each other, whereas their similar poles repel each other.
- Electric charges are similar to this concept.
