As we know that

P.E. = mgh

where,

P.E. = Potential energy of the object =?

m= mass of object= 3kg

g= acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 ms^-2

h = height between object and animal = 0 m

Then

P.E. = 3× 9.8 × 0 = 0 Joules or 0J

Given: mass = 3 kg

To find: potential energy of the puppy

Solution:

  • Potential energy is the energy possessed b the body on the virtue of its position.
  • When a body is above the distance from the height, the body possesses the energy due to its position and is equal to the product of the mass of the body, the height at which the body is from the ground level, and acceleration due to gravity.

Potential energy = mgh

Since in the above question the puppy is sitting in the grass. Therefore the height will be zero

P.E = 3×0×10 = 0J

Therefore zero will be the potential energy of the puppy that is sitting in the grass in the backyard.
